Medic's 30-Second Finish Headlines Record Night in Belgrade

2d ago by Greene MMA

Uros Medic did not need the full five minutes, or even one. The Serbian finished Daniel Rodriguez in 30 seconds to headline UFC Belgrade, the promotion's first show in the country. It was over almost before the crowd found its voice, then the building found it anyway.

The rest of the card kept pace. Twelve fights ended without going to the scorecards, a UFC record, with ten of those finishes coming inside the opening round. Serbian fighters won five times on their home soil.

Michael Oliveira made the most of his promotional debut. The newcomer took apart Oban Elliott, busting him up badly enough to end the fight and stretch Elliott's skid to three straight losses. Elliott spoke afterward about absorbing the damage; there was not much good to say about the fight itself.

Nina Milosevic finished Hailey Cowan with a body shot in the first round, a finish clean enough that Cowan walked away from the sport entirely afterward. It capped a night where the prelims did as much damage as the main card.

Four fighters left with bonus checks, Medic among them, but Belgrade's real story was volume. A card built around one hometown hero turned into a night where almost nobody needed a third round to get the job done.
