Parnasse Headlines Paris, Calls Out Holloway After Win

Salahdine Parnasse got the job done in the main event slot at UFC Paris. Home crowd, main event pressure, and he came through it. Didn't take long after the final horn for him to start talking about Max Holloway. He called it his dream fight. Matchmakers will have opinions on whether he's earned it yet.

Michael Page didn't have the same kind of night, even in victory. He out-pointed Nursulton Ruziboev over three rounds to move to 5-1, but nobody left the arena talking about the fight itself. Page owned it afterward, said the fans deserved better, said he wants to take more risks going forward. He also admitted he's not sure the promotion keeps him around after a performance like that. Careers have hinged on less.

Away from Paris, the promotion's bigger picture kept shifting. Word is UFC brass are kicking around a rematch between Justin Gaethje and Ilia Topuria after Gaethje's fourth-round finish of him back in June. And the vacant women's flyweight title picture got settled for UFC 332, with Natalia Silva and Wang Cong now the ones fighting for the belt Valentina Shevchenko gave up.

Of the names actually in the cage Saturday, Parnasse did the most for himself. A win, a spotlight slot, and a callout that puts him in the conversation with a legitimate feature fighter. That's a good night's work by any account.

Page, for his part, banked the win but not much goodwill. Sometimes the record book and the fanbase don't agree on how a night went.
