The methodStyles over records
A 9-4 wrestler with heavy top control is a live dog against a 14-1 striker who has never been held down. The record sells tickets. The matchup decides fights.
Camp and notice
Short-notice fighters are priced like tourists. Some are. Some walk around near weight, train year-round, and have been waiting two years for the call.
Where the line moved
An opener at +475 that closes at +340 means money arrived. That is worth more than any prediction we could write.
Age and mileage
Not years — rounds. A 34-year-old with 40 pro fights and a wars-heavy resume is older than a 34-year-old with 14.
Reading the numbers
If odds are new to youA positive number is the underdog. It shows what a $100 stake would return in profit — $340 here, plus your stake back. The bigger the number, the less the market fancies them.
A negative number is the favourite. It shows what you would have to stake to profit $100. Heavy favourites tie up a lot of money for very little return.
Odds convert to an implied chance of winning. +340 is roughly a 23% chance. The question is never "will they win" — it is whether 23% is too low.
